    • Aadhaar-OTP e-verification the same day the ITR is filed.

    Definition

    AIS

Annual Information Statement showing 45+ transaction categories reported against your PAN — must reconcile with ITR.

    Definition

    Section 143(1)(a)

Automated intimation issued when ITR figures do not match Form 26AS / AIS data — most common notice.

    Definition

    Schedule FA

Foreign asset disclosure schedule mandatory for residents holding overseas bank accounts, RSUs or property.

Who must file ITR in Pune

Pune taxpayers commonly have Section 24(b) home-loan interest on ready-to-move Wakad/Baner flats, LTCG on redeveloped Kothrud properties and ESOP perquisite from multinationals.

Anyone in Pune whose gross total income (before deductions) exceeds ₹2.5L under the old regime or ₹3L under the new regime must file an ITR. Filing is also mandatory for TDS refund claims, foreign asset holders, directors of companies, unlisted-equity holders, and those depositing over ₹1 Cr in current accounts or spending over ₹2L on foreign travel.

    Local ITO & jurisdiction

Aayakar Bhawan Erandwane and PMPML Building CIT circles handle Pune assessments. Jurisdiction is now PAN-based rather than address-based — you can file from anywhere in India for a PAN registered in Pune. Physical ITO visits are only needed for scrutiny under Section 143(2) or 148 reassessment.

Documents needed to file ITR in Pune

    • PAN + Aadhaar (linked — mandatory since 30 June 2023)
    • Form 16 Part A + Part B from every employer
    • Form 26AS + AIS + TIS (downloaded from incometax.gov.in)
    • Bank interest and FD certificates
    • Home-loan interest certificate (Section 24(b))
    • Rent receipts + landlord PAN (HRA above ₹1L p.a.)
    • Broker capital-gains statement (Zerodha, Groww, ICICIdirect)
    • Mutual fund CAS from CAMS / KFintech
    • Foreign RSU / ESPP vesting statement (Schedule FA)
    • Investment proofs — LIC, PPF, ELSS, NPS, health insurance

Old vs new regime for Pune taxpayers

New regime is default from AY 2024-25. For most Pune salaried employees with 80C (₹1.5L) + 80D (₹25k) + HRA + home loan under ₹8L total deductions, the new regime with ₹75k standard deduction wins. Old regime wins when deductions exceed ₹4–5L per year (typical for Pune mid-career professionals with active home loan + full 80C + NPS + insurance). Taxpex runs both computations in writing before filing.
