Trademark Class 3: Cosmetics & Cleaning Preparations
Class 3 is one of the most heavily filed classes in India. It covers non-medicated cosmetics, skincare, haircare, perfumery, essential oils, soaps, toothpaste and cleaning/laundry preparations. The moment a product makes a therapeutic claim, it usually shifts to Class 5 instead.
What Class 3 covers
India follows the NICE Classification (11th edition) — 45 classes in total, 34 for goods and 11 for services. Class 3 sits in the goods group. Your trademark is only protected for the goods or services listed in the class you file, which is why picking Class 3 correctly matters more than the logo itself.
