Trademark Class 2: Paints & Coatings
Class 2 covers paints, varnishes, lacquers, preservatives against rust, colourants, dyes, inks for printing and raw natural resins. It is about the colouring and protective coating itself — not the tools used to apply it, and not artists' stationery inks.
What Class 2 covers
India follows the NICE Classification (11th edition) — 45 classes in total, 34 for goods and 11 for services. Class 2 sits in the goods group. Your trademark is only protected for the goods or services listed in the class you file, which is why picking Class 2 correctly matters more than the logo itself.
